The core of the magnesium hydroxide (surface-modified magnesium hydroxide) coating is to form an organic/inorganic coating layer on the surface of Mg(OH)₂ powder, while maintaining the halogen-free, smoke-reducing, and non-toxic characteristics of the flame-retardant nature. It has good fluidity and is more evenly dispersed.

Stearic acid / fatty acid-coated magnesium hydroxide: Low cost, good fluidity, suitable for common plastics such as PP, PE, and EVA.
Silane coupling agent-coated magnesium hydroxide: Strong chemical bonding, resistant to hydrolysis, better mechanical properties / flame retardancy, suitable for engineering plastics, rubber, and cables.

1. Better compatibility with plastics and rubber, the surface becomes hydrophobic, and it combines more tightly with high-molecular materials such as PP, PE, EVA, and epoxy, without repelling or layering.
2. Less prone to agglomeration, more evenly dispersed, and better fluidity.
3. Better mechanical properties under high filling, not brittle or cracked, with significantly higher impact strength, tensile strength, and toughness compared to unmodified magnesium hydroxide, able to balance flame retardancy and strength.
4. Higher flame retardancy efficiency, better smoke suppression effect, lower heat release rate, and smaller smoke density, suitable for high-demand fields such as electrical wires and cables, building materials, etc.
5. Low oil absorption rate, saving resin and additives, lower formulation cost, better material feel and surface gloss.
